Driving Instructor Insurance Brokers

UK Driving School Insurance Brokers - insurance-for-ADIsBelow we have provided a full list of driving instructor insurance brokers in the UK, which offer insurance specific for driving schools and driving instructors.
We recommend that you ring some (or all) of the companies for quotations before you take out or renew your existing policy. If you’re not in immediate need of a quotation today, many of the driving instructor insurance brokers listed below allow you to get a quote online, although with some, it may take a few days to receive your quote.
Some of the things you might want to consider when obtaining quotations are:

  • What specifically does the policy cover?
  • What is the excess on the policy?
  • What is the excess for windscreen damage?
  • Is a replacement vehicle provided in the event of a fault and non-fault claim?
  • For how long will the replacement vehicle be provided (is there a maximum time period)?
  • If you are hit by an uninsured driver, how will this be recorded on your policy (i.e. as a fault or non-fault claim)?
  • If you provide off-road tuition to drivers under 17, make sure you ask for specific details of cover for this element.
  • If you have family or friends under the age of 25 that are likely to be driving the car for social, domestic or pleasure, make sure they are covered, too.
  • If you provide instructor training, is cover provided for this?
  • Does the premium offer no claims discount protection?
  • Is there any additional charge for paying in installments?

Insurance it due in January, thanks for doing half the leg work for me!

  • Trevor Bailey

Lloyd Latchford will not now provide Insurance for Driving Instructors if your car is registered before 2010 as they have changed their underwriters.

  • Shameem Kauser

Are you sure, as I have ubeen told by lloyds latchford that the insurers they are using only provides insurance cover to limited postcodes

  • Jackie Willis

Lloyd Latchford refused my insurance renewal quoting ‘changes in underwriting criteria’ – that old chestnut! They told ADINDI they could no longer insure me because the only company they now use, KGM, will not accept insurance for over 65s (yes, I know it’s hard to believe, lol, but I turned 66 yesterday!). I called KGM to ask them about this and was told categorically this is not one of their criteria! I have just contacted LL direct and asked why I was refused insurance and was told the same thing, KGM won’t insure over 65s! I am now awaiting email confirmation from LL about this. Cat among pigeons springs to mind! Or maybe ‘dirty work at the crossroads’? Or both??

  • Jackie Willis

I have now received the following written confirmation from LL, directly contradicting what I was told by KGM:

“Following our telephone conversation this afternoon, I can confirm that the underwriting criteria for the KGM driving tuition scheme held through ourselves, specifically excludes drivers at the age of 65 and above.”

    Your comments please.
